Roscommon Angling Centres

ROSCOMMON is the forgotten county on the Upper Shannon. Quiet waters, unspoilt bankside and some remarkable fishing are being ignored by the majority of anglers heading off to Ireland. Great examples are Carrick-on-Shannon, Boyle, Roosky, Strokestown and downstream on the Shannon to Athlone; yet apart from a handful of local lads, there is hardly a line cast across the waters!

Lough Gara on the outskirts of Boyle is among the forgotten fisheries and yet has never stopped producing quality fishing in the terms of bream, hybrids, roach, tench and some very big pike. More famous are the upper reaches of the River Suck around Athleague – and hardly a soul can be found on the bank. The ‘Inner Lakes’ of the Shannon between Lough Boderg and Strokestown are the most likely to produce true specimen fish – and we are talking about rudd, bream, tench, roach and monster pike.

Grange Lodge is unique and an oustanding a modern self-catering bungalow at Grange, near to Strokestown, where you can truly look forward to catching a range of fish but particularly quality bream, tench, rudd and very big pike.
