Clare Angling Centres

CLARE provides traditional lake fishing, though nowadays you’ll have to put up with lots of big hybrids and roach before sorting out the counties famous bream and tench. Take a peep at a map of Ireland and find Clare – a county of rich wooded land, water and music – covering the area between Lough Derg and the Atlantic from Limerick to Galway.

And the coarse fishing lake district is concentrated between the villages of Broadford, Scarriff and Feakle. Lough Derg is a "gold mine" for big fish and the many small rivers that empty into the Shannon system can be really fruitful. Corofin is especially good fishing with particularly tench and bream in Ballycullinan and nearby lakes on the River Fergus system.

Tulla and Broadford are popular too, with a great chance of bagging tench, quality roach, terrific rudd and bream. There is an excellent network of small to medium sized lakes providing a huge variety of fishing which is mainly from good banks and stands using all methods and baits.  There's good sport at Two Mile Gate outside Killaloe with fine shore fishing for bream in several areas of this huge lake from the shore.
